The objective of Denville Baseball shall be to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and reverence, so that they may be finer, stronger and happier children and will grow to be good healthy citizens.
The objectives will be achieved by providing supervised athletic games. The supervisors shall bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or the winning of the game is important, but the molding of citizens is the primary function.
Tee-Ball is more often than not the first time our children will be exposed to a structured baseball or softball program. Denville Baseball is committed to creating a safe and fun Tee-Ball program that focuses on developing four fundamentals of the game: throwing, fielding, baserunning, and batting.
Designed primarily for ballplayers ages 7-8, this division introduces players to hitting “Coach Pitch” with the goal of building batter confidence and getting more action in the field. It also has the continued focus on player fundamental development and building their knowledge of the game.
Minors is designed for players ages 9-10 years old. Players will learn how to hit a player-pitched ball, learn how to pitch from the mound, and play the field using the 46’ pitching distance and 60’ basepath regulations. Players will start playing learning how to play in full games. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork.
In this division, players move up to the larger field dimensions featuring 50' pitching distance and 70' base paths. They will be introduced to new parts of the game such as base leading, stealing all bases, pitching balks and infield fly rules. They should expect to play competitive baseball games while continuing to develop their skills. This division will not be a clinic style of play.
